I am incredibly excited to be working with Orillia & Lake Country Tourism on the first of what will hopefully be a series of digital self-guided tours in this area.
Our first tour will capitalize on the popularity of one of the local railway lines that has been converted into a multi-use trail. The Uhthoff Trail is a 30-kilometre route between Orillia and Waubashane, Ontario that is now part of the Great Trail.
As part of the planning process, Kris Puhvel and I enjoyed a nice spring bike ride – a “recce mission” of sorts (replete with snacks of course!).
The next steps in the tour development process include historical and ecological research that will inform the telling of various stories associated with this railway line that passes through an important part of this region.
I hope you will follow along as we assemble the stories and build the tour.
